Let me see this will be a post that is short and sweet. If you are looking for a place that has amazing Dumpling at an amazing price with no wait – then this is your stop. I am telling you these are worth the run down to the lower east side. Here is a sample of the prices.

Well if you have read this blog in the past then you know this dinning spot is not a normal eatery for me. I am mostly the dinner hot dog kinda guy. But I was invited for this very fine meal, and I was not going to miss this chance to dine along side the NY elite. First if you want to eat here you eather need to be a huge movie star (ok B list or at least have a TV show) but if you are none of those you can get on the month long waiting list or jsut walk in and take your chances. After you get past that you are in for a treat. The food was amazing now that is really hard for me to say because I am not a fan of Mario Batali on food network. They start you off with their

chickpea bruschetta Which was amazing. Then my main course was the Grilled Pork Chop with Cherry Peppers, Cipolline and Aceto Manodori $29 . I am a huge pork fan but this took me to a whole new place. This pork chop was cooked perfectly it just melted in my mouth. The Cherry Peppers that are spread over the top of the Pork chop mixed with this amazing ages Aceto Manodori. This brings the flavor of the pork chop to the front with a quick sliding taste of cherry pepper spice. Other dishes at the table that i have to mention would be Grilled Lamb Chops “Scottadita” with Sunchokes, Grilled Onions and Lemon Yogurt $29 If you are looking for the best tasting lamb in the city then you just found it. One last dish then I am done. Pumpkin“Lune” with Sage and Amaretti $19

Then I ended my night with Assortment of Gelati and Sorbetti $11 Now I never pass up a chance to have a little Gelati and I was not going to leave here with out putting Mario’s to the test. Mind you I really don’t have many to compare his with but I can look past that if you can. And yet once again it was amazing (did I already use that word). Once again I have stepped out of my norm to try something new and now I am hooked. I think I need to put a call in so I can get a table by that time spring should be here.

I do have to say that it has been very hard to find a good fried chicken stop in the middle of NYC. But I think might have found one. At the end of a long night waiting in line to see a tree lite this place was a welcome suprise. Once you walk in to this place it gives you the feel of a lower east side dive. But don’t let the layout fool you the food here is something to write home about. OK back to the fried chicken that I ordered. The chicken was juicy with a very nice crispy outside, with a very southern after taste. A long side of my dream boat chicken I had a half of plate of any thing but healthy green beans. Trust me this place is not the healthy stop but its worth the extra 2 days at the gym. Live bait it a must stop in NYC.

For all of you who keep talking about Union Picnic need to stop. Union Picnic was a dirty place to eat. Jimmy’s is so much cleaner. Ok now down to business. The fried chicken is good but I would not say the best in Brooklyn that title still is held by Junior’s but don’t get me wrong it is good. The burgers are strange but 2 thumbs up on the effort. This for sure is a must stop by. Enjoy.

I am not one to eat out in the Trendy Parts of town, my whole thing is to find the spots that no one else has. I had to make an exception for this place. Ok I was there to see a soccer game. I will toss it out there – At first this looks like your normal I have money and I am here to meet over worked secretaires while my wife is taking care of my kids in Trenton. But I assure you it’s not, well not that I could see. Ok down to the good stuff. This was my first Run in with an Empanada, now mind I have had no others. I have to say it was like haveing sex for the second time, Yes I said second because we all no the first time sucked. I had the Beef Empanada with a shirley temple (cute right) I will give this place a good review!!!!!! the food was amazing and at a good price, and I did not have to deal with the bullshit SOHO attitude. I would for sure go back.

Lets start off with the bad parts of this Lower East Side eater. Now that I think about there is only one. is the place is way to small and the second is the seating is way to close to each other. With that out of the way lets get to the goods. The Design of the place is amazing I think its is a work of art, you have a great feeling the second you walk in to the place. But the food is not as a good as the layout and desgin. But what can I say when my dinner and drink cost no more then $5.00 I am not really going to out this place down. This is the ideal match.com date spot, it looks high-end but with good pricing. The spot you can take several dates to and not go broke.

Hours:: Tue-Sun 7pm-4am; First and for most Rose is one of the best places in williamsburg brooklyn to see the live music from local talent. I have seen amazing acts there like The Pimps of Joytime, and the Hot 8 Brass band. But that’s not all that Rose is on the come up for. Yep it’s the food!!!! If you are looking a great date spot then look no further this little sexy place. Rose is in deed your stop for romance. The service is amazing and the food is on the level of a village city bistro, with out the NYC prices. I am going to have to recommend the Italian style Lasagna , not even Gordon Ramsey could put this dish down in his hells kitichen. But make sure to save room for the Spicy Chocolate Brownie. So get off your couch and turn off Lost and head to Rose for some good food and good music.

For me Grif dogs has always been that late night eat when you were just sick of a slice of pizza. When I first found out about this place I was so excited to eat there. Grif dogs in some ways lived up the hype but at the same time had some huge down falls. So here are my true thoughts – for 1 who really wants to pay 2.50 for a plain hot dog I mean come on it’s a hot dog!!!!! Second the place was not clean at all I guess thats what you get from a late night place in the LES. But on the upside the concept of Grif Dogs is great. I like the crazy style of hot dogs they put together. Such as – The Chang- Bacon Wrapped dog topped with kimchee or the Spice Redneck – A house dog, bacon wrapped w/chili , cole slaw, and Jalapenos. Or if you are really in the mood maybe you can get one of their stoner packs, which is sort of a grab bag of eats – this is how the describe it “A mistery grab bag of eats – we won’t tell you what you are getting but we guarantee it will fill the moderately stoned dude”

So my take on Grif Dogs is eat at your own risk. The dogs are right and the price is wrong. You make the choice.

When you think Williamsburg Brooklyn you think hipsters, tight pants, big hair, and over priced fancy Thai food. But I make the claim that it is home to the best fried chicken in New York. This title is held by Williamsburg own Pies ‘n’ Thighs. A small little hard to find counter top set right under the Williamsburg bridge. Pies ‘n’ Thighs Serves up many of the back yard BBQ favorites such as pulled pork sandwich ($8) catfish ($8, served with corn bread) Hush puppies ($3) and their famous mac and cheese. But my blue ribbon hangs on their Fried Chicken. Now I love it when the chicken is crispy on the outside but so juicy on the inside that it runs down your chin. Make no mistake Pies ‘n’ Thighs and have hit this goal. Pies ‘n’ Thighs is a must stop for and one looking for a good home cooked meal.
Some shop tips:
There is only out door seating.
They are cash only.
There is never a long wait.

This was the fist time that I have ever dined on Cuban food which if you live in brooklyn for has long has I have is a sin. Thats all any one talks about is a Cubano sandwich how amazing they are. But when it come to sandwiches I am the local pro. I could live off of sandwiches., just as long as there is no mayo. So I decided to stop in Mojito to eat my first Cubano and I was ready for it. This is what’s in a Mojito Cubano – roast pork,ham,swiss cheese, Pickles, and garlic mayo. Of course I ask for it with no mayo. Now I have to give to them is was one of the best sandwiches I have ever eaten. The Cubano as made the list to be eat any time. As for Mojito is a very cute aold world feeling layout, the place is very clean, and the service was fast and helpful. But with every up there must be a down fall, so here it is. Mojito is no place Near a train, the Cubano that I got looked like it was appetizer size 3 bits and it was gone. So for me the price was not right mine came to 7.00 and drink was another 2.00. I feel for the hike that you make just to eat there they should give you some sort of price break. You really can’t get away with charging NYC prices in deep brooklyn. On that note I would not make my way back to Mojito but would make my way back to a Cubano.
