The rebirth of cool

I am sitting in my living room looking at a wall of Lp’s for you that have no idea what an LP is I am sorry. But sitting here looking at my collection I ponder to myself what ever happened to good music. Then I realize how cliché that must have sounded. But for some reason it felt so true. I have every thing form death metal, to smooth jazz, and I am happy to say I know a little bit about music. But by know means am I critic. That night I hosted a Frank Sinatra Birthday party at a local bar. We had booked a live band to play along side the DJ’s. But much to my surprise I feel this band brought some life back in to music. The bands name was, The Todd Londagin Band. To start off I am a huge fan of 40’s and 50’s vocals such as Frank Sinatra ,Johnny Hartman, Mel Torme and Tony Bennett. In turn this makes me a huge fan of Todd Longagin. His voice is a mix of the smooth driven notes from Frank Sinatra mixed with the Heavenly placed pitch of Mel Torme. Looking around the room while Todd sang I could just feel the hearts of the women in the house just stop for every melted note that danced from him. He held that stage as if he was at the Sands hotel signing while waiting for Sammy to finish his drink and join in. The Todd Londagin band set a mood that made me feel as if it was New York city 1946. With a voice like that it gives me hope that the art of a singer has not yet passed, and we might see a little class dropped back in to the night life of New York City.

Christmas for Sale

Christmas is an annual holiday that celebrates the birth of Jesus. The date of the celebration is traditional, and is not considered to be his actual date of birth. Christmas festivities often combine the commemoration of Jesus’ birth with various secular customs, many of which have been influenced by earlier winter festivals.

I know we all remember a time when christmas was a happy time of year. When we would make snow flakes with construction paper, and if we were lucky we would get to put glitter on it. We all remember Christmas as time when we got to spend time with our family. Now as I get older I see that Christmas is more of a business then it is a family event. How and when did this happen? Or has it always been this way and when we were kids we never really focused on it. In my family Christmas was more about the family and spending time with them. May be I am just longing for something that never was.

CNN tells us to shop online for christmas!

Just when you thought you heard the last of the dot.coms!!!!!

Its not over yet CNN reports today that more then 50% of americans will be doing their shopping online this christmas. For me this is so true. I think in the past 4 years I head to the stores during christmas not to shop but to give myself a little holiday cheer, knowing that all of my shopping was done in less then a night with out leaving my computer. No more fighting the crowds after a long days work, more time with your friends and family. Now that sounds nice! Fear not I have some soulutions and ideas for you shoppers and business owners.

Now if you want someone to build your site I would use digital marauders, they have a flat rate customized cart with no monthly fees. Sicko the movie – USA Money rules all

Sicko the movie – wow how do I really start this but to say we all going to die for the all mighty dollar. Second I am ready to pack my bags and get off of this sinking ship called America. But then it came to me that it’s not the US governments fault it our fault. We are the ones that let them do this us. I don’t think that we really understand that they work for us. There are more middle to lower class familes in the US then there is Upper to mega rich. We can no longer live in fear we need to stand and take this country back.  No I have not been the best person in that on the means of voteing but you can be sure I will never miss a vote from here on out.  There is only one thing for us to do, sstand up and let them here us.

This was a great Idea to begin with but now they are using it to further there cause of turning us into a consumer nation. Every page on myspace can be bought for a price and trust me there are companies lined up to get a banner on here. And we are letting this happen. Buy Buy Buy  that’s what myspace has become. It’s turned into porn and ad heaven. But why do we still log in? Is it to check our messages? Is it to catch up with lost friends? Or is it because we are addicted to consumption. Some of you think that you can just ignore the banner ads, but they get you in the end. Subconsciously these ads creep deep into your psyche waiting for its chance to emerge while you are checking out at target. Then all at once you have this strange feeling that you need to buy the new Hawthorne Heights records. Now they own you. Spending your money on things you really don’t need. Spend Spend Spend. You can deny it all you want!!!!! But if you log into myspace, then they own you. Do what you can boycott the companies that advertise on myspace, boycott the bands that pay for ads on myspace, use scripts to cover up myspace ads. Don’t allow yourself to be swept away with the masses. Don’t let myspace dictate how you spend your dollars.

What are we doing to Ourselves

I have been in Los Angeles for the past 7 months and I still can’t get over the fact that no one here is really doing anything to change the thick green cloud that hangs over the city. With the gas prices rising to about 4.10 a gallon I asked a few people at what price, and at what smog level would it take for you to park your car and find another way to get around. Out of the 15 people I asked only one gave me a dollar amount. The other 14 told me “what could I do I still have to get to work”. We all keep waiting for our government to step in but if we continue to wait it will never happen. We need to open our eyes and see they are in on it. Money feed this monster. You have to take matters into your own hands the only way to really hurt the rich is to make them POOR. Find other ways to get around. Try a bike, ride a bus, or even just walk to work.

I do, I get about 5 to 6 a day. What I love the most about them is the “i need help doing code” and then you look at their myspace page its all crazy done up. I should be asking them for help with my page. Or the “I just moved here” but their city is now where near the one you live in.  I just want to know who these girls are and do they really do this for a living. If so, I wonder how much they get paid.  I guess it really does not matter in one day they get about 400 friends all guys thinking “she is the one I am going to hook up with her” yea right. enjoy the free spank on myspace.

Critical Mass in the City of Smog

I Have been in LA now for almost a year and one thing is for sure this city’s air is dirty. I have been living in Brooklyn for the past 5 years and yes NYC has it’s fair share of trash, but nothing like the air in LA. That’s why it is so important to have a bike ride such as Critical Mass.
